Description

1:1200 model by Baryonyx, built and painted by me.

Now that Zerstörer 1934 and Nassau have been built, I tried a bigger ship. A hypothetical update of the Bayern class battleship around 1936. I got the idea for this from World of Warships mainly, including the camouflage scheme which I find fantastic. It is a variant of "dazzle" camouflage that was meant to make it hard for long distance viewers to see how many ships are there, what their course is and how fast they are. This would especially matter for submarine crews, who need this data for the torpedo computer.
Although I based the ship on the model as it appears in World of Warships, I took some ideas from other designs I found on the web and a little bit of my own artistic liberty.
I wanted the ship to have a unique name. Because the Bayern class was named after kingdoms, principalities and duchies within the German Empire, I decided to take the principality of Hohenzollern as the namesake for this ship.

Like the two ships before, I crafted it from cardboard, hard foam, paper, and wire of different thickness.
